Pella

Pella, a town in Ancient Greece, was the birthplace of Philip II of Macedon. It was destroyed by earthquake in the 1st century BC. Archaeological digging began in 1957 and was still in progress in 2001.

Famous poet Aratus died in Pella circa 240 B.C..
